Dr V S Salhotra
Dr Virender Singh Salhotra is the Additional Deputy Director General (TB) at the Central TB Division in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Dr. Salhotra has a post graduate qualification in public health from Lady Hardinge Medical College. He has been working for Tuberculosis for more than 15 years and carries tremendous experience in TB Control Programme implementation.
He has also served on international platform for 5 years in SAARC TB & HIV/AIDS Centre, Kathmandu, Nepal. Currently, he is looking after the important portfolio of implementation of programme management activities for Drug Resistant TB, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, and donor coordination including World Bank loan & Global Fund grant implementation. He is the person responsible at the national level for driving the introduction of Bedaquiline and shorter regimen for drug resistant TB in the country. He has also initiated phased implementation of Universal DST in the country.
